Paralympics 05.09.2012

My DH managed to get some tickets for the Paralympics - yesterday's evening session in the Olympic Stadium. It was fantastic, a real eye opener and very inspiring. The Olympic Park and the venues are vey well thought through and the atmosphere is AMAZING ... our seats were not very far away from the finish line and the podium for the victory ceremony, here are some of the images - Petra. x

The Halloween Gang

A 30minutes journal page for the Art Journal Cafe challenge. Ok, I had a think beforehand. Halloween seems to be creeping up on us and there are all these wonderful Halloween creations everywhere .... so the theme was fixed. I also thought that everything was well in reach to go ahead and do it .... my new little Snag'em stamps were still on the table awaiting to be inked up.
Well, somehow I used a double page in my journal and it took me AGES to do the background ... why on Earth did I do a double page? Then I thought it would be nice to colour some of the images because I had a couple of minutes spare ... BIG mistake as it didn't work and I had to repair! And then .... I enjoyed every single minute of it ... how did this happen? Petra.

Mr Repaired - isn't he cute?

The background is stencilled with various distress inks, the stamps used for
the gang are from Snag'em, Craft Stamper, Betty Creations and Lavinia.

Teddybear Cake

To all of you who had a good guess, thank you so much. And here is the finished product

cake: vanilla sponge filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream topped with soft fondant and royal icing
bees: soft fondant and flower paste
I received a colleague's request to create a teddybear cake a la Paul Bradford who makes the most amazing and perfect looking cakes, his tutorials and cakes are a true inspiration. The teddybear was to be one with 'proper' fur and bees and everything. This was so difficult. It took me a very long time to cut, sculpt and then decorate the cake - especially as Mr Teddybear was a bit unruly, the royal icing didn't dry fast enough and started slipping ... nightmare! In the end I think the cake bear looked almost a little bit like one of my teddybears (lol)
Sue and Marjie went for Winnie the Pooh and Debbie was getting close after the first teaser post. Ladies, I will contact you for your snail mail address. Many thanks for all the lovely comments, have a lovely start to the week, now off to do some crafting (smile) ... Petra.

Cake Teaser 2 and a Little Tag

The cake is finished and has been delivered but I will only reveal it tomorrow (lol). So far Debbie got closest with her suggestion that it might be a doll. Here is a second clue ... the cake has something to do with these chaps
... and, yes, it will have arms, ears, nose, eyse, ... any more guesses???

This is a little tag I made quite a while ago: Give Me 5 for one of Vicki's previous challenges
The tag has an inky backgorund (Antique Linen) which I then stamped on (Kaisercraft and Rayher) with some more distress inks. The focal point is this lovely sticker from K&Company which I layered on some transparency. To finish the tag I added some random machine-stitching and a little bling. Have a wonderful weekend, Petra.

Cake Teaser

I have been working on a new cake almost every evening this week ... it's getting closer to be finished. It is a Christening cake for a sweet little girl called Violet. When taking the photos, I thought it might be quite good fun to give you a chance to have a guess what it would be once it is finished (lol) ... and whoever gets it right (or get very close) will get a little something! ... So here it goes

sculpted, filled and covered with vanilla buttercream
I will show you the finished cake on Sunday. Come on let's play and have a guess! Wishing you all a lovely weekend, Petra.

Seclusion

for the Inspiration Avenue challenge: to share a picture of a doorway or window and tell us what you think it happening behind that structure. A doorway in tranquil Tonder, Denmark ... serene and timeless ... no opening ... seclusion
Wishing you a lovely afternoon and evening, Petra.

Steampunk Alfie and Happy News

I cannot wait  have to tell you the happy news first ... I am being featured on the Art with no Boundaries web page with a little tag of mine ...  and I won at Frilly and Funkie and have to go shopping now ... this is a real hardship, there is so much choice!!!!

And now, ta-da, may I introduce you to Alfie and his light bulbs? Without Alfie we might still sit in the dark (lol)
Alfie comes from the Octopode Factory and was coloured by me using Copics, colouring pencils and some Stickles. I cut out Alfie and layered him on an inked, misted and stamped (Paper Artsy) background and added some star stickers for a bit more sparkle
(please feel free to use this background image in your art)

Alfie is joined by some light and bulb images from the web. The lowest layer of the tag is some paper from K&Company accompanied by eyelets, strings and a little Christmas bauble. Have a lovely week, Petra.
