Whimsical Altered Spoons

The Artistclass projects are wonderful, absolutely inspiring and I have already learned a lot - although I am hopelessly behind with my projects ... :-( but I enjoy every minute of it. Mary Green from Green Paper and all participating artist have done a great job in organising this class and putting all bits and pieces together.

Nancy Maxwell James from Sugar Lump Studios offered the tutorial for the whimsical spoons. I must admit that at first it didn't go very well. I am not quite sure what happened ... I was covered in glue and paper and glitter (far more than usual) but the spoon didn't look at all as expected ... so I dismantled it and started again ... and once I got the hang of it I couldn't stop myself (LOL). I used some old spoons from Peter's Mum. They are quite curved but luckily it still worked.Every spoon is slightly different as I wanted to try some variations.

Isn't she a darling? The image is from Carol Anne's Boutique. I love the way all the little details come to life because of the varnish. The darling sentiment I cut from one of the Graphic Fairy 's many many images. The spoon is decorated with pearls, some flower lace and a bow woven aound the handle.

This spoon is quite easy and flowery, image from the Graphics Fairy. It has a German sentiment (it is for my Auntie, she loves those items) from Carol Anne's Boutique. I kept the decoration easy with just a few pearls, a button, fabric flowers and bow.

This is the least elaborate of the spoons, it has only one button and a little bit of ribbon as embellishment. The technique I used was also slightly different as I adhered the glitter first and then added the image. The lady and sentiment are part of images from the Graphics Fairy.

This project was good fun, and the next one is already on my desk, Petra.
