Addicted to ATCs

It is getting closer to the end of November and to another swap at 'Addicted to ATCs': Something Spooky. Maybe I shouldn't show mine but I really liked the theme of the swap and cannot wait to see the ATCs of the other participants

Would you like to know what is under the hood - be prepared!

Have a good start to the week, Petra.

Birthday planes for PDC06

By chance I discovered the challenge from The Play Date Cafe. The colours and the cards of the DT are so inspiring

It reminded me instantly of a paperpack from K&Company 'Hopscotch'. It is perfect for a birthday card for a very good friend whose little hobby are planes, watching and flying himself

Supplies:
plain square white cardstock
paper - K&Company 'Hopscotch', origami paper, plain white and blue paper
stamps - Studio g
ink - Heine
image - downloadable image for children colouring
colouring - Copic, Koh-i-noor with OMS
shapes - Quickutz circles
ribbon - from my stash
foam pads

I covered the white square card with two layers of K&Company papers. The image is mounted on two layers of plain blue and K&Company papers. The clothes in the image are paper pieced and the second helicopter is a 'replica' of the original one in the image.
I did my very best to do a foldy airplane but I must admit I have never been really good at this, my paper planes never flew straight lines nor landed they where expected :-)
Have a nice weekend, Petra.

PPP - Pink, Pregnant and Polkadots

This week's DCM challenge was all about the first letter of our name, and you have to use at least three things in your creation. My name is Petra. My choice for "P" is: pink, pregnant and polkadots - oh no, it is not me who is pregnant :-) but one of my friends ......

Supplies:
plain cream card stock
paper - unknown polka dot, free magazine paper, Masterpiece Studios
stamps - Artemisio, Whipper Snapper Designs
ink - Artemio
embellishments - pearls/eyelet/ribbon from my stash
foam pads

I LOVE the taylor's dummy, it is so funny. And with pink/white polkadots it looks even more pregnant .... Petra.

Digital "Wizadry"

There are so many brilliant people out there who are so creative with using all those applications designed to do/help with processing images digitally. I have not really engaged with such processes so far nor have I the necessary tools installed on my computer (like Photoshop). But inspired by the work of the Crafters Kitchen, Cathy from Cathy Michaels Design and all the Brag Monday projects shown on The Graphics Fairy blog I thought I give it a go and create something which is clean and uncluttered with maybe one or two eye-catching features. Guess what happened

It got completely out of hands, and I went completely over the top.
I downloaded the chandelier sheet from Crafters Kitchen and the lovely clip art from Karen, The Graphics Fairy and merged the two. Then I embedded the new image within a background I also found at the Crafters Kitchen. I just used OpenOffice Text for this operation.
Having created this basic layout the plan was to attach it to white card and use one of the Graphics Fairy's shoes with a bit of bling as embellishment. But then I saw this little tiny bit of lace on my workdesk and this was the start of something quite different :-)

Supplies:
square white card
paper - Crafters Kitchen, American Crafts, plain white card
images - Crafter's Kitchen, The Graphics Fairy
lace, ribbon - found in my stash
flowers - Artemisio
bling - Artemisio, Kanban
pearls - from a bag of bargain ribbons :-)

Christmas Fair - All well that ends well

We did it, it is all over and it was quite a bit of success. I am , of course, talking about today's Christmas Fair. This morning it was all a bit of a rush, and I am sure all of you who have ever participated in such an endeavour know what it is all about, have we got everything, what is missing, will people like what we have etc. I talk in 'we' because my lovely daughter helped me with the fair. Without her I wouldn't have been able to do it

Due to my illness I was not able to bake as much before the fair as I had planned so I was a bit worried that it maybe would not have been enough. But I must say it was the right amount as we were almost sold out!!! What an experience.

A choice of what was on offer:

I will now put my feet up and have a cup of tea. Have a good week, Petra.

Christmas Fair - Countdown

The countdown for tomorrow's Christmas Fair in Reading, Crosfields School is running. Just a few more hours left. And there is still so much to do - little things like baking one more cake and decorating a few cupcakes. But I am sure everything will be fine tomorrow..... fingers crossed!
Jane will be at Crosfields as well with all her fabulous goodies. Hopefully we will have tables next to each other. I wonder how she is getting on? :-)

See you then, Petra.

Christmas decoration - Paper Bauble

A few years ago I saw a charming paper bauble in a Christmas magazine but only now when I saw the Docrafts challenge 'Deck the Halls' I remembered the bauble and created a prototype to see how it works out. I chose cool colours (white/grey/glitter/blueish)

For this project I recycled the 'past' by using old Christmas cards. How to:
* choose a colour scheme which you like
* cut out 21 same sized circles
* on each circle draw a triangle with same length sides touching the edge of the circle at all three points
* score and fold along the lines of the triangles
* top and bottom: for each glue 5 circles together along the flaps so that they form a long line and then join them for a bigger circle
middle part: glue together the remaining 10 circles so that they form a long line and then join them for a bigger circle
* glue the top and the bottom to the middle circle
* pierce the top and bottom and thread a ribbon or thread through

You can also add your personal touch by using buttons, pearls, etc for decorating the bauble even further.
Have a nice weekend, Petra.

Digi Santa & Cupcake Craft Challenge

I needed a very quick and easy Christmas card and to use a digital stamp was just very tempting because the printed and cut-out digital image of the Santa had already been lurking in one of my papercraft boxes for a while. So by keeping it simple the card was ready to be used and to be submitted for this week's Cupcake Craft Challenge in no time

Supplies:
card - tree shaped card from Papermania
paper - plain white and red card
digital stamp - DAISIE Company
sentiment stamp - Dulcie Jackson (Quick Cards)
ink - VersaColour
colouring - Sakura, Koh-i-noor
blings - Kanban
glitter - LOTS from my stash
punches - Woodware, Nestabilities
embossing folder - Cuttlebug 'Snowflakes'

As the card had already the shape of the tree all I had to do was to emboss the white card, attach the blings, colour the Santa and give him lots of glitter, created and attached the sentiment and the star embellishment for the top and that was it - well, not quite.
It is always a bit difficult to write on red card so I slightly changed the inside by inserting white card and giving it a little star as decoration.

The digital Santa is a free digital stamp from the DAISIE Company. At the moment they offer a Christmas freebie with very cute and charming digital stamps.

Keyrings: felt and fabric - nestabilities and stamps

Recently I saw some really nice and cute keyring made out of felt. They looked so tempting that I thought it is a nice idea to have a go myself

There were just a couple of obstacles: to cut out the shapes by hand, to hand draw the images, ...... At the time I didn't have one of these fancy cutting machines nor did I know anything about nestabilities. After I heard about the wonders when using those machines I found a craft group where I was able to try different machines, different shapes with different material. And ... IT WORKED! I was absolutely amazed. So, I have a Big Shot and various nestabilities and are happily cutting out shapes :-)
For the keyrings I used felt as basic material, cut the felt into various shapes. I embellishment the basic shape with filling material and embellished it with buttons, ribbons, stitching and stamped images. This was quite a steep learning curve because I wanted the image to be durable. So I had to source the correct ink. In the end I settled for Fabrico ink (which has now been taken over by Versa inks). The fabric should be reasonably smooth so that the image is nicely transferred.
The keyrings are mostly handstitched. I made one (the red one) with the sewing machine but didn't like the result at all.

I will definitely make some more of those. They are such good fun although I am not quite sure what to do with them at the moment :-) Petra.

Elzybells Challenge #31 - Tempting Textures & Stempeleinmaleins stitching

I tried to restrain myself and used only a few textural effects: embossing folder, felt, different ribbons
****
Ich versuchte, mich zurueckzuhalten und benutzte nur einige structurelle Effekte: embossing folder, Filz, verschiedene Baender.

(Sorry for the quality of the photos, the light was unfortunately not very kind today - well, it might also have been the photographer :-) )
Supplies:
paper - BasicGrey, kraft card from Elzybells
felt - Hobbycraft
stamps - Elzybells
colouring - Koh-i-noor with OMS
blings - Papermania
ribbons/string - from my stash
nestabilities - squares, scalloped squares
circle - Quickutz
embossing folder - Cuttlebug (Swiss Dots)

I layered paper, card and felt stitching the felt onto the kraft card (idea from Stempeleinmaleins). The stamped image is partly paperpieced to give it a bit more depth (hair decoration, shirt). For the little label I used the square scallop nestability just using one edge of the nestability. I quite like the way both ends of the label turned out.
****

Have a nice day, Petra.
