Answer: Oh yes, you can.
As requested I decorated the No 1 cake (chocolate sponge, chocolate ganache, covered with fondant) with butterflies. The butterflies are a mix of pink fondant (body, head and base) and card (butterfly pop-up punch). I finished each butterfly with little white antennas :-)
