Cake Teaser

I have been working on a new cake almost every evening this week ... it's getting closer to be finished. It is a Christening cake for a sweet little girl called Violet. When taking the photos, I thought it might be quite good fun to give you a chance to have a guess what it would be once it is finished (lol) ... and whoever gets it right (or get very close) will get a little something! ... So here it goes

I will show you the finished cake on Sunday. Come on let's play and have a guess! Wishing you all a lovely weekend, Petra.

Seclusion

for the Inspiration Avenue challenge: to share a picture of a doorway or window and tell us what you think it happening behind that structure. A doorway in tranquil Tonder, Denmark ... serene and timeless ... no opening ... seclusion
Wishing you a lovely afternoon and evening, Petra.

Steampunk Alfie and Happy News

I cannot wait  have to tell you the happy news first ... I am being featured on the Art with no Boundaries web page with a little tag of mine ...  and I won at Frilly and Funkie and have to go shopping now ... this is a real hardship, there is so much choice!!!!

And now, ta-da, may I introduce you to Alfie and his light bulbs? Without Alfie we might still sit in the dark (lol)
Alfie comes from the Octopode Factory and was coloured by me using Copics, colouring pencils and some Stickles. I cut out Alfie and layered him on an inked, misted and stamped (Paper Artsy) background and added some star stickers for a bit more sparkle
(please feel free to use this background image in your art)

Alfie is joined by some light and bulb images from the web. The lowest layer of the tag is some paper from K&Company accompanied by eyelets, strings and a little Christmas bauble. Have a lovely week, Petra.

Give-Away Winner and Journal

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday! It has been lovely here and very enjoyable with our Grandson being around this morning, having some very nice coffee with friends, making a colourful mess and now eventually drawing the winner for my little give-away.
Thank you SOOO much for all the lovely and kind comments, and the winner is: Shelly. Congratulations!

Now this morning I took the plunge and started a journal, thanks for the encouragement from Patty and Debby. I have never done it before and it seemed so scary! But using a little recipe from Dawn I opened the journal and started to make a mess. Dawn's recipe is: take a photograph of a person, stamps (Crafty Individuals, Woodware, Little Claire), DPs (Crate paper, gcd studios), Glossy Accents - oh, and I used lots of gesso and acrylic paint and a little bit of writing ... and I loved it! Petra.

Told You So

... another canvas and tissue paper project ... this time a little one and still experimenting
This time I gessoed the canvas first and then painted it using acrylic paints. The paint layer was not smooth but I kept it a bit rough and structured. Once the paint was dry I covered it with stamped tissue paper (stamps: Prima Marketing, Penny Black). Before sealing the canvas I stamped around the edges (stamp: Penny Black).
The finishing touches are some little pearls and a leftover ruffled ribbon .... the next canvas is already waiting! Petra.

Steampunk Cinnamon

... from the Octopode Factory. I love her, she is so quirky ....
I created this tag for the current Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge: Steampunk. I cut the tag with the Tim Holtz Alteration die and tea-dyed it. To give it a bit more depth I distressed it with Walnut Stain Distress ink and then stencilled it - the stencils used were cogs and gears paper die cuts. Miss Steampunk Cinnamon has been dressed in Copics and Koh-i-noors and some beadsjewellery
Hop over to Vicki's blog for more inspiration, hope you can join us. Have a lovely day, Petra.

Sheep Allsorts

Puh! What a temperature, it was very muggy today. I cannot cope very well with this weather. I have been feeling very tired and although I had quite some spare time, I had not even enough energy to do any crafting and tomorrow it is back to work (sigh). How is it in your part of the world, how was and is your summer? I do hope that you all thoroughly enjoyed and still enjoy it.
I noticed that there are still some cards I haven't shared with you, this is one of them. It is a postcard for a swap, the theme was: Sheep
The background for this postcard is from TracyAnn Digital Papers. I layered it with a faux postage frame from Craft Chaos and some friendly sheep from Becky F. The frame is coloured with distress ink, the sheep with Copics and colouring pens - for each wool colour there is a little herd of sheep (lol). The little friendly hello is a stamp from the Waltzing Mouse.  Have a good start to the week, Petra.

London during the Olympics and a little Give-Away

London during the time of the Olympics felt very special. We went for the first day of the competitions to watch Beach-Volleyball. The stadium was at Horseguard Parade and the air was filled with expectations, fun and joy. Being only a temporary structure the stadium looked amazing, the games were very exciting and everybody enjoyed it.
And then they were these dotted around London - the Wenlocks. I only caught a few but they were good fun
Being British my DH had decided to become a Gamemaker during the Olympic Games. He was designated as one of the official drivers for the officials who wanted to get a lift from airports, Olympic venues, .... He quite enjoyed it and met some interesting people. It was the first time I saw him in uniform ......
The next one is now the Paralympics and we will try to get some tickets. I am really looking forward to it.

And now something quite different. I passed the 500 blog post mark and I have more than 200 followers! This is so amazing and I cannot thank everybody enough for always being so kind and generous. It is definitely time for a little give-away!
Now having started to use canvas and tissue and just loving it, my give-away are a few canvases, some white and not so white tissue paper, some white acrylic paint and a few extra bits which you might find useful ....
If you are interested, please just leave a comment. I will draw the winner the next Sunday, so there is hopefully plenty of time to stop by. Petra.

Experimental Canvas

... for the Frilly and Funkie challenge: Get Crafty with Canvas. It is the first time that I tried my hand on a canvas and on tissue paper. It always scared me but I also really wanted to create something with both. The solution: take a masterclass with Lucy. Now, Lucy is the master and I took the class! It was great fun, a lot of mess and I learned a lot, thank you Lucy.
I covered the canvas with distress stains, stamped Crafty Individual images onto tissue paper and tore it up. Once the paint was dry I glued the images to the canvas - what a revelation!
As the canvas looked a bit lost at first I added some rings stamped with a pen cap and white ink and some embellishments.
The edges of the canvas are covered with lace ... more canvases to follow .... Petra.

Orange - More Orange

... for Vicki's challenge: Coming Up Orange and for me getting my crafty mojo back .... which has not been great lately, it all went into the cakes ....
The last two weeks we worked with lovely images from Lunagirl Images. For this week I used these beautiful birds from one of the collagesheets
It has been a long time that I created an ATC and it was lovely to work again with this size. I tea-dyed the ATC and then stencilled and stamped (Darkroom Door) the background with Distress inks. I really love to create backgrounds with this technique, it is sooo much fun to play with the inks.
To give it a bit more depth and a bit more shine I sprayed it with glimmer mist (unfortunately not very visible on the photo). The birds are printed, cut out and layered on the ATC. The finishing touch is a bit of flower ribbon.

Hope you can join us for the challenge, just pop over to Vicki's blog for more inspiration from the DT. Petra.
