Sunshine

What a wonderful theme over at Gingersnap Creations, it fits so well to all the sunshine we have already been enjoying this summer
Some days ago I discovered Claudia & Company stamps. They are such good fun, easy to use and to colour. And Ms Ella works so well on this little birthday card. The papers are from October Afternoon, I used Elzybells and a free stamp from the Stamper's magazine. The sunshine is stamped twice and then layered. Enjoy your weekend, Petra.

Summer on the Beach and a Bicycle

... created on two luggage tags for my friend .... and they might even qualify for the Gingersnap Creations challenge 'Heat' (LOL) .... When looking for suitable images, I found perfectly matching ones at Night Owl Vintage
I combined the beach scene and the 'mermaid digitally and layered the printed image onto K&Company paper lightly distressing the edges of the image and the paper. The sealife is highlighted with Stickles in various colours.

The second tag looks a bit different (LOL) and was just great fun to make. I used the same procedure as for the first one and added a sentiment.Enjoy the summer - whereever you are and whatever you do, Petra.

Steampunk Apprentice

Dawn challenged me for this month's ATC swap and chose 'Steampink' as theme. Oh dear! ... when trying to work out how to go about I realised how few stamps I own which can be used to create steampunk art ... but using stamps is one of the criteria in our swap .... the recipe had to be: lots of digital manipulation for the steampunk theme and a tad of stamping, sorry Dawn, next month will be more stamping (LOL)

The images I used are from the Graphics Fairy and Graphic Design/Travel Ephemera, the images were modified and combined. You will find below the backgrounds I created. If you like them and find them useful, please feel free to use them.
The stamps are from Elzybells, Stamper Anonymous and Crafty Expressions. I chose embellishments from Tim Holtz (little round letters and gadget gear die), whatever I could find which went with the theme and a wonderful clockface from Dawn, thank you so much.

Christmas in July

I cannot believe that Susan has chosen Christmas for this week's theme of the One-Layer Wednesday challenge .... and I can believe even less that I made a card! To my defense I have to say it is only a tiny one and I think I was tempted because the image is so cute (LOL)

and I could not resist to add some glitter - what would Christmas be without it!
The stamp is from High Hopes using Brilliance inks, it is coloured with Sakura pens and Koh-i-noors. Have a lovely Monday, Petra.

A Spoonful ...

.. for the Case a Ginger challenge over at Gingersnap Creations. The most challenging part was to decide which work of art to choose for inspiration ... all gingers are so talented and all pieces are just wonderful. In the end I decided to take Hels' spoons as inspiration, they are fabulous - here and here - thank you so much. I love to embellish old spoons ... they do not only look pretty but also make wonderful and special presents

First I varnished it with tacky glue to give it a smooth finish. Unfortunately the spoon is not real silver, it did not get this very nice patina. The image is from the Graphics Fairy ... I did some fuzzy cutting for the flower bouquet. Around the edges - not very clearly to see, sorry - I put some pink glitter. The handle is embellished with a glitter button, some beads and ribbon. a MIXED MEDIA PIECE with a VINTAGE THEME

.. for the Art 'n' Soul challenge which was posted by Viv ... with a few requirements:
Your piece must measure at least 4 inches square or be of a reasonable postcard size (5 inches by 3 inches minimum)
and may be made from paper, mountboard, chipboard, canvas or fabric.
You must incorporate at least 2 (or all) of the following elements -
A vintage image (stamped or printed)
Paper collage
Some lace or ribbon or fabric
A button or other embellishment
Embossing or texture

The hanging is about 5"x3" layered on K&Company paper and Kraft card from Elzybells. The background is a musical sheet from the Graphics Fairy which I printed on card and distressed the edges lightly (all distressing is done with Ranger distress ink 'Pumice Stone'). The lace is held in place with some beads. The lady vintage image is from Magic Moonlight Free Images. I printed it on textured off-white card, slightly distressed the edges and put it on embossed K&Company paper. As embellishments I did some 'fuzzy' rose cutting which I found at Marie's Freebies and the last touches are some blings and a bow. Have a lovely Sunday, Petra.

Shades of Blue and July Sketch

Do you know or even own a Bernina sewing machine? They are brilliant. Mine is now more than 30 years old and has been used heavily. It is quite basic but it has never let me down and the quality of the sewing is really outstanding .... and I will get a second one very soon! I am absolutely excited, it is the same model so I can use one for fabric and one for paper (LOL) ... how lucky is this! The lady who owned the machine beforehand had it for years in her loft but she never used it and said I could have it .... I was so amazed and I am so grateful for this. To say thank you I made a card for her which turned out quite spotty with various shades of blue and I used the July sketch from the Gingersnap Creations challenge
