It's All About Hats

During yesterday's Royal Wedding is was 'almost' all about fashion and especially the hats the ladies wore for the occasion. A wonderful bonnet worn by a beautiful lady was also the focal point for the April Bella Creations Oh La La challenge. The base for the creation was an image by Gecko Galz
The task was to decorate the bonnet 'You may use the entire image or just the hat. But the hat you use must be the hat in the Gecko Galz image. And the finished product must be a tag ....' I did not have a lot of time so decided to go digitally for the creation, Petra.

Red And Gold

... two wonderfully rich colours for the Color Challenge over at Gingersnap Creations. With the Color Challenge we are reaching the end of our journey to the Far East. Red and Gold are the colours for good luck, happiness and wealth
To send good luck wishes I created a notecard using origami, tissue and handmade paper. The focal point of the notecard is a little folded frame (I had the instructions from the a little origami book but you can also find them online). I used the frame to display a Chinese coin and a little gem.

The Red of the notecard is relatively dark, more burgundy. This morning when going in the garden, I found a very different red - the first poppy flower had appeared!

You will find more good luck art at the Gingersnap Creations blog. Come and join us!
Wishing you a lovely weekend with lots of good luck, sunshine and flowers. Petra.

Flying Through The Air

It has been a long time since my last post. The last weeks have been quite intense with days of cleaning and clearing out the days, with lots of visitors staying and not being able to get to my craft room! It is so nice to have friends around but I have to admit I miss the crafting ....
This card is one of the few creations I attempted last week ... a card with a masculine theme for a very good friend who is a very enthusiastic glider and vintage aircraft pilot
square Kraft card, patterend paper, artemio and Kaisercraft stamps

Why not pop over to the Cheerful Stamp Pad to get more inspiration for your man's card? Petra.

There is a Man in My Life

Little men - big men ... it never seems to be very easy to make cards for either! Vicki challenged us in her new Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge to create exactly this: a card for 'There is a Man in My Life'. My card is for a little one who absolutely deserves a big card (lol)
paper: BasicGrey - stamps: Lily of the Valley - punch: EKSuccess

Come and join us and have a look at the fabulously inspiring creations of the DT, Petra.

Easter is Coming Soon

... and I am hopelessly behind with everything (sigh) ... there is a reason for it, though. For a few days now I have been battling with my craftroom or better with the contents of it. I didn't know that I have so many things in there! Normally it is not a problem but as we get a few visitors very soon this room will be used as bedroom .... and amongst all the tidying up, throwing away I also seem to have lost my mojo! If somebody finds it, I would be very happy to get it back (lol). This is a card which has been sitting on my desk for almost a week waiting for the finishing touches ... have a good start into the new week, Petra.

Give Them Chairs

A new wonderful challenge from Rebecca ... and a tricky one! It's all about 'The Chair'
images: web, Flickr
It was tricky because I don't really have plain furniture stamps. So I decided to try to find some images on the web which I could use. First came the chairs, then I remembered the quote 'Keep calm and carry on.' and from there it was only a short step to create a bit of a silly tag (LOL). Petra.

Walking on the Road

For the second part of the Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge: Are We There Yet I thought it would be fun to give the theme a slightly different twist. And it all came about when looking at some old photos from the wedding of our friends in Italy ... this was quite a way to go from England and involved a lot of tiring travelling. To take children to a party can be equally tiring ... even if it is just a mile down the road (lol)
The transportation for this little journey to the party is their own feet. As you can see these children are well prepared for the party (lol) and at the end of the road a wonderful party waits for them with lots of treats, games and galores of fun! They might even do some crafting .... (lol)
Come and join us for the travelling, fun and for the party at the Cheerful Stamp Pad, cannot wait to see your interpretation of the theme. Petra.

Sunflowers & Tuscani

Rebecca challenged us to use a real postcard or part of it to create a tag. Instantly I remembered the lovely postcard we had received from a friend showing the beautiful Tuscani landscape with hundreds of sunflowers
providing the perfect backdrop for my tag
I only used part of the postcard and layered it on Pink Petticoat Kraftcard. The sentiment is stamped with Kaisercraft stamps, the sunflower girl is an Elzybells stamp. I coloured the image with Copics and Koh-i-noors. The final touches are ribbon and some little wooden pearls. Petra.

The World of the Geisha

April is already in full swing and Gingersnap Creations has started its journey to the Far East. The first stop on this journey is Japan with its magical and mysterious world of the Geisha
The base for this postcard type project are two different colour BasicGrey papers, they are layered and slightly distressed around the edges. I added a bamboo image from The Sum of All Crafts. One side of the image is stamped upon with Kaisercraft stamps and embossed. On the opposite side I added 'fake' banboo sticks which I painted black. The focal point is the Geisha with her rich Kimono

The basic instructions for the Geisha creation can be found here. The paper used is japanese Washi paper which is wonderful to work with when it comes to folding. The finishing touches are a little birdie, an embossed fan and some fancy hair decoration.

Come and join us on our journey and enjoy the magical works of art of the Gingersnap DT, Petra.

Ladybird Fairy

I only recently discovered Mojo Monday and really like their challenges especially their sketches ... perfect for a little birthday card for a little pink Ladybird Fairy
It was a real challenge because this is not the usual me ... I always have difficulties with pink cute and sweet (lol). For this card I layered Kaisercraft papers on a basic white card and combined it with the stamped Ladybird image from Penny Black, a nestabilities butterfly, blings, ribbon, a butterfly embellishment and a stamped sentiment from Wild Roses. the image is coloured with Copics and the border is punched with a Martha Stewart punch. Petra.

Are We There Yet?

This is the new challenge over at the Cheerful Stamp Pad. Do you remeber the last time when you went on holidays with your children, you were hardly in the car and the first question they asked was: Are We There Yet? I definitely do and my card is a tribute to all those trips and nagging questions (lol).
Supplies:
paper - PinkPetticoat Kraft card, TracyAnnDigital Art
stamps: Artemio, Craft Stampers Magazine, Vintage Christmas No. 4

Come over and have a play, it will be so much fun to see what you come up with, Petra.
